All About Ms. Mazariegos

Welcome to Acero Roberto Clemente Charter School! My name is Maria  Mazariegos and I am so excited to work with your student this school year.  I am thrilled to join the team, and I am looking forward to a year filled with learning, fun and adventures. I can not wait to learn all about your student and you, but first I will tell you a little bit about me.

I was born and raised in the city of Chicago. I am a mom of two girls, Allison is 8 years old and Avril is 1 year old. I love being a mom and spending time with my family. My parents migrated from Guatemala seeking better opportunities. I became the first in my family to graduate from college. I attended the University of Illinois at Chicago and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching of Spanish with a middle school endorsement. I also earned a Master’s Degree in Special Education at Northeastern Illinois University. In 2012, I joined the Acero team and became a founding teacher in the Brighton Park Campus.

During remote learning, I will be creating small groups to focus on your student’s reading and math goals.  During in person instruction, I will be supporting the general education teachers in focusing on your child’s goals  indicated on their IEP (Individualized Education Plan). During the school year, I may work with your child inside their classroom or in a separate pull out room. Your child’s classroom teacher and I are collaborating in order to support  your child’s success in learning this year.

It is important that your child see that his/her parents and teachers are taking an active, caring role in his/her learning process. This will allow for great achievement and growth in his/her IEP goals. I am truly grateful for all the wonderful support you provide.  Let’s work together to help make your child become all he/she can be!

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, concerns, or comments! Our school phone number is (312)455-5425 and  my email is [email protected]. I will be available during my office hours during remote learning.  During in person learning, we can schedule meetings before and after school. We are going to have an outstanding year!

Sincerely yours,

Ms. Mazariegos
